A planning application has been submitted to convert YMCA charity shop into a restaurant or cafe.
The shop has closed as proposals were sent to St Edmundsbury Borough Council seeking permission to change the use of the premises and build an extension on the first floor.
Carol Brown, assistant manager at the YMCA store, said: “It was always very popular. Everyone loved to come here to get a bargain.”
Hannah Beaven, area support manager for YMCA, said: “The shop trades very successfully so we would be very keen to stay in the area. We want to find permanent premises.”
