A new cancer support group aims to bring together people affected by all forms of the disease to provide friendship and support.

Julie Baker established Open Arms Cancer Support after being unable to find a local group for the form of the disease she had been diagnosed with.

Open Arms Cancer Support will be open to all cancer patients as well as friends, family and carers.

Julie, 44, of Lakenheath, said: “I hope it will be somewhere people can go and talk to other people in the same situation. Cancer can be very isolating - at a meeting you know everybody is willing to talk.

“Hopefully it will be good.”

Julie also has plans for events, therapy sessions and creative workshops.

The first meeting will be held between 4pm and 6pm on April 16 at Lakenheath Pavilion. After which it will take place on the third Wednesday of each month.
