After a long campaign the members of the People's Project celebrate their purchase of the Royal British Legion Club in Lakenheath

The next phase of redevlopment at the former Royal British Legion in Lakenheath will get underway on Saturday with a celebration event in the club’s grounds.

Supported by Forest Heath District Council, the event from 12pm to 4pm will see the launch of a survey to gain suggestions for the hall’s new use.

The People’s Project in Lakenheath, run by the Lakenheath Peace Memorial Hall Committee, won a bid to buy the empty club building in the High Street earlier this summer.

Cllr Colin Noble, Forest Heath district councillor for Lakenheath, has given £500 from his locality budget to help fund the celebration event.

Annette Brooks, chairman of Lakenheath Peace Memorial Hall, said: “We are excited about starting work on the next stage of this project.”
