Megan Birnie has launched a new range of jewellery.

A jewellery designer has launched a new business selling unique, personalised pieces.

Megan Birnie produces personalised items of silver jewellery impressed with finger, hand or paw prints.

She developed the idea while on maternity leave and launched Sparkle and Co Boutique, working alongside her father designer Michael Birnie in his Hatter Street shop.

Megan, 26, said: “I did not really mean to start a business it was just an accidental thing and before I knew it, it was doing quite well and I decided to move it up a gear.”

Megan produces pieces including pendants, charms and keyrings in shapes such as hearts and butterflies.

She invites customers to come and see her at Michael Birnie Contemporary Jewellers to select a design and discuss how it should be elaborated.

As well as personal imprints Megan can add birthstones and other details.

She said: “They are a one off. Each one is completely different, you will never get two impressions the same.”

Megan has produced works to celebrate births, marriages, valentines day and more.

She is currently working on a selection of pieces to celebrate Mother’s Day.

It takes two weeks for each piece to be completed.
