Three Italian cousins are determined to bring the real taste of their homeland’s food to Bury St Edmunds.
The new Don Marco’s, in what was Daley’s restaurant in Brentgovel Street, is run by Marco Stephens and his cousins chef Constanzo Sollo and assistant Mino Filetti.
Marco said: “We want to get away from the Italian chain type of food. It will all be food made by hand here in the restaurant from British ingredients.
“It is a family-run restaurant and we will strive to be as genuinely Italian as possible.”
He said they would do everything from oven-baked pizzas to freshly prepared ravioli with their own fillings and a range of other pastas.
They are still developing their menu as they find out what customers like.
For Marco, this is his first restaurant business, though he has managed cafeterias. Costanzo is an old hand in his native Naples.
