Town centre bosses hope an online video showcasing a Bury St Edmunds street will ‘go viral’ and are challenging other market towns to come up with a more diverse shopping area.
OurBuryStEdmunds commissioned the video to show-case Risbygate Street’s kaleidoscopic array of businesses which are members of the town’s Business Improvement District (BID).
Among those featured are a motorcycle dealership, wine merchants, jewellers, restaurants, musical instrument shop and an auctioneers.
The organisation is now challenging other market towns and BIDs to find a street with a more diverse range of businesses using the Twitter hashtag #WowWhatAStreet.
Chief executive Mark Cordell said: “We showed the video to a few local people and everyone of them said I didn’t realise there was so much down there.
“We thought it would be a good way of raising the profile locally and further afield.”
The video was made by Bury based film-maker Paul Cook.
