Villagers scooped an array of awards as they showcased eye-catching flowers, produce, crafts and photography at a popular show.

Accolades were handed out in 14 categories to adults and children for their impressive green efforts and artistic flair at the 129th annual Horringer Fete and Flower Show.

About 400 people flocked to the event to sample a range of stalls involving various village organisations, classic cars, games and a car boot sale.

Polly Barfoot, chairman of Horringer and Ickworth Horticultural Society, which organises the event, said: “It’s popular. We had a lot more children’s entries compared to other years.”

The trophies and winners were:

Fruit: The Collins Trophy –Ickworth Park Primary School

Vegetables: The Silver Challenge Cup – Ickworth Park Primary School

Flowers (except roses): The Brabrook Cup – Miss P Barfoot

Roses: The Silver Rose Bowl – Miss P Barfoot

Building and Patio Enhancement: Hutchinson Cup – Mrs J O’Kelly

Pot plant, succulents etc: The Lainson Cup – Miss P Barfoot

Floral Art Cup: Best Exhibit – Mrs J Taylor

Highest number of points in section: Mrs J Taylor

Preserves etc: The Centenary Cup – Mr R Davies

Cookery: The Joan Whiting Memorial Trophy – Mrs J Sewell

Crafts: The Bank Cup – Mrs S Dekker

Photography: National Trust Trophies. Highest number of points – Mr P Harrison. Best exhibit – Mrs H Clutterham

Children’s section

Group A: Children under 5 years of age – Ryan Middleton and Hermonie Clutterham

Horringer Women’s Institute Trophy – Mrs S Veal
