Stars from TV soap Hollyoaks joined in with some summertime fun when they took part in this year’s Red Lodge Sports Club summer fun day.
Their celebrity football match against Newmarket jockeys and stable lads was just one of a host of activities and sports for the whole community organised by the club .
The day attracted 3,500 people through the gate.
Money raised on the day is going to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, a charity supported by the Hollyoaks crew.
This is the third year the event has been running and sports club manager Paul Hope said he was overwhelmed at the turnout and atmosphere on the day.
Visitors enjoyed a barbecue, bar, live music from Bury performer Cam Brown and there was a wealth of children’s activities including bunjee trampolining, giant slides catapult building with the local scouts and a children’s football tournament.
Mr Hope said: “The most heartening part of the day was that there was not a single negative comment at all.”
Red Lodge Scouts, Newmarket Army Cadets and Red Lodge Junior tennis club helped out on the gate and received a donation from entry tickets.
The football match however was not such good news for the celebs who lost 6-1.
