Organisers of the Hidden Gardens in Bury St Edmunds have revealed this year’s event raised a record-breaking £24,483 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
They disclosed the amount at a ‘thank you’ party for owners of some of the 37 featured gardens in the event, which attracted 2,700 visitors last month.
Jill Carter, an organiser with Diane and Paul Knights and Sheila Blackmore, said: “We’re so pleased for the gardeners, who spend months getting ready for the event and then welcome hundreds of people on the day, that we’ve managed to raise even more money this year.”
The party was hosted by solicitors Gross & Co, one of the event sponors. It costs £11,000 per day for the Hospice to care for people with life shortening illnesses.
