Young eco warriors at a Bury St Edmunds school have scooped a prestigious accolade following a year of green endeavours.
Pupils at Sexton’s Manor Primary have won the Eco Schools Green Flag Award for continued excellence in improving the environmental performance of the school and wider community.
Steered by the school’s eco club committee, activities have included daily outdoor learning with cross curricular links such as litter collections, recycling and making Christmas wreaths.
They also abide by an eco code and conduct regular electricty checks to conserve energy.
Head Debbie Knight said: “It’s a hands on way of giving children ownership of their environment.
“They’re delighted with the award.”
The initiative is organised by Keep Britain Tidy.
