Suffolk County Council is one of the top places for lesbian, gay and bisexual people to work, according to the latest national index from the equalities charity Stonewall.

Since 2013, the council has risen 96 places to 61st in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index for 2014.

Councillor Rebecca Hopfensperger, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member responsible for equalities and inclusion, said: “This achievement acts as a demonstration of our commitment to support our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff and communities across Suffolk.”
