The games have begun as businesses get creative to transform £50 into as much money as possible for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
The Towergate Accumulator Challenge is in full swing and already 21 teams from companies across the region battled it out in a rounders tournament to bring in £2,700 for the charity.
The event was organised by Baker Tilly chartered accountants and business advisors, in Hollow Road, and held at British Sugar Sports and Social Club.
Abby Mayes, hospice corporate fund-raiser, said: “I know the Baker Tilly team have more fund-raising events up their sleeves so I look forward to seeing how much they’ve raised at the end of the challenge.”
Meanwhile, Asda staff member Chris Holmes took the plunge by sitting in a bath of baked beans. Customers were invited to buy something ‘yucky’ to add to the bath in return for a donation.
The challenge is sponsored by Towergate Insurance, of Newmarket Road, in Bury, which provides the £50 notes.
It will come to an end with a finals night on October 1.
