Fire crews from across the county battled Suffolk’s third thatch fire in a week.
The fire in Mill Road, Battisford, wrecked the roof of a cottage. Fire crews arrived on scene at about 4.30pm yesterday and were damping down until 3.50am this morning.
They made a further inspection during the day.
Appliances from as far away as Orford attended and at the height of the fire there were 11 fire engines plus a Command Unit from Ixworth, water carrier from Newmarket and the Multi-Star telescopic platform from Bury St Edmunds.
