The former principal of West Suffolk College is be honoured with the Freedom of the Borough.
Dr Ann Williams, who recently retired after 33 years at the college, in Out Risbygate, Bury St Edmunds, including 11 as principal, is to be awarded the title on May 15.
It will precede St Edmundsbury’s mayor making ceremony due to be held at The Apex.
On the honour, Dr Williams said: “I’m delighted and feel very privileged.”
St Edmundsbury Borough Council agreed to grant Dr Williams the Freedom in ‘recognition of the eminent services rendered to the Borough and its residents’.
Previous recipients include David Lockwood, the 3 Regiment Army Air Corps at Wattisham, Sir Eldon Griffiths and all borough residents who served in the armed forces of the Allied Powers during the Second World War.
