Voluntary and social groups in Forest Heath have been urged to make use of a low-cost transport service.

Voluntary and social groups in Forest Heath have been urged to make use of a low-cost transport service.

The Voluntary Network hires out wheelchair accessible vehicles. A volunteer driver can also be provided, at no extra cost.

Caroline Robinson, Voluntary Network Manager, said: “Our hire service offers voluntary and social groups an affordable way to provide transport to attend important events, activities and occasions. This transport service allows many local people to take part in community events and development activities, which largely improves the quality of their lives and allows them to socialise in safe and productive environments and to avoid isolation.

“We know there are many groups in this area which are in desperate need for transport solutions and we can provide the solution. The challenge for us is ensuring these groups are aware of what we can provide, so we would urge them to get in touch so we can discuss all possibilities.”

The service is available in more than 30 towns and villages including Thetford, Brandon, Mildenhall, Red Lodge and Lakenheath.

For more information on the hire service telephone the Voluntary Network on 01638 608022.
