Fighter jets have been temporarily moved from RAF Lakenheath to RAF Mildenhall while work is carried out on the base’s runway.
From September 13 F-15 jets will be relocated to Mildenhall for at least two and a half weeks.
During this time flights will take place between 8am and 12pm each day.
Sqn. Ldr. Richard Fryer: “We have taken proactive steps here to mitigate the noise footprint on surrounding communities.
“A minimal number of missions will be flown to reduce noise and no overhead patterns will be flown unless they are absolutely essential, but limited flying operations will continue so crews can maintain essential training requirements.”
The normal quiet hours for RAF Mildenhall will apply to the F-15 aircraft.
This means, unless waivers are granted for specific occasions, there will be no F-15 flights during weeknights between 11pm and 6am, and there will be no F-15 flghts from 6pm Fridays to 6 am on Mondays.
RAF Lakenheath’s helicopters will continue missions from home station and have not relocated to RAF Mildenhall.
