After nearly 20 years, this may be the last gathering of the Wickhambrook Potters.
The get together at the village hall has been organised annually by the children of Florence Potter, who died in 1994 only two weeks before her 89th birthday.
It has been organised by her children George, Faith, Frank, Eva, John, Sam and David, who are now aged 85 to 68, and finding it a bit much to cater for the 65 to 70 family members who come from as far as Egypt.
But after Saturday’s gathering, on what would have been Florence’s 109th birthday, Sam said: “Whether it will be the last one is open. There were murmurings from the younger members of the family that they want to keep it.”
One has even traced the family tree back to the 1700s. They have lived in Wickhambrook since the generation before Florence.
