A 50 per cent fall in youth unemployment in Mildenhall over the last 12 months has been described as ‘fantastic news’ by West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock.
Both long and short term youth unemployment has halved in the town since April 2013 according to Job Seekers Allowance claimant figures.
Mr Hancock said: “This steep decline in unemployment is fantastic news for Mildenhall. We have made real progress and local people are starting to get back into work.
“I am delighted to see so many young people finding their way into a job, building the confidence and skills they need for the future.
Although there is still a lot more to do, these figures show that our long term economic plan is working.”
Overall unemployment in Mildenhall has fallen by 42 per cent since April last year, ahead of the national average.
There are currently 88 people claiming Job Seekers Allowance in the town.
