Drinkstone’s Junior Youth Club, which holds a monthly film night, held an Oscars night last Friday.

The youngsters - aged from five to 11 - got dressed up, walked a red carpet, drank mocktails and ate canapés made by youth club baker Casper Smith.

Costumes ranged from James Bond and Batman to pretty little princesses and the winner of ‘the golden ticket’ won a Lindt gold bunny.

Youth club leader Sheila Beswick said: “The whole night was a real success. We watched a short film beforehand and then, whilst they were having their cocktails and canapés, some huge red drapes were hung and we asked the children to come forward and have their photo taken with an Oscar.”

“The whole theme went down really well and we were so pleased it was actually the Oscars weekend,” she added.
