A service in tribute to airmen and women at RAF Honington who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country was held in Bury St Edmunds over the weekend.
The dedication service to a memorial in the Abbey Gardens was part of Armed Forces Day and featured a procession from the Athenaeum to the Rose Garden.
Before the event, Cllr Robert Everitt, the mayor of St Edmundsbury, said: “I feel strongly that it is important that we all take time out of our busy work and social lives to recognise the liberty that we have been gifted by those who have defended our country.
“St Edmundsbury has a long and proud history with the armed forces with close ties to the Royal Anglian Regiment, RAF Honington and Wattisham Airfield.”
Meanwhile, a fun day at the Three Horseshoes, in Barrow, was cut short by the weather but raised £237 for Help For Heroes. It was organised by Carol Beckham, who son serves at Wattisham. An auction of racing tickets will be at the pub tonight after 9pm.
