Crowds gathered to enjoy a Merry Mildenhall Christmas among an array of seasonal stalls, games and events last week. Festivities kicked off with a lantern parade led by the town crier, which was followed by a Pause for Thought ceremony, the Christmas light switch-on and the arrival of Father Christmas.
Cllr David Bowman, Forest Heath District Council’s Cabinet member for Economic Development and Tourism, said:
“The evening started with the lantern parade led by Town Crier, Gary Ewington, followed by the Pause for Thought ceremony and count-down of the switching on the Christmas tree lights just before the arrival of Father Christmas in his sleigh, ably stewarded by the Mildenhall Sea Cadets.
“Some of the other highlights of the evening were the hilarious mini puppets shows in the magical marquee which filled with the laughter of small children and their families, while Jack Frost amazed and entertained.
“Mr Holly amused people through twisting his balloons, and as ever there was a very long queue full of excited children waiting to see Santa.”
