A new primary school in Lakenheath will be a condition on developers seeking to build new homes in the village, Suffolk County Council has said.

The county had originally made holding objections on four planning applications being considered by Forest Heath District Council for more than 1,000 new homes in the village, but has now reduced those to one objection.

A county spokesman said on Wednesday: “Our agreed education strategy to be funded by developers is to secure a site upon which to build a new primary school to serve the village.”

The county has to decide how school provision will be made for additional pupils until the new school opens.
