A locality budget scheme for St Edmundsbury Borough councillors is to be trialled with grants worth £100 or over available for community groups.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council is to pilot the initiative for one year with a budget of £2,500 per councillor.
It will be based on Forest Heath District Council’s scheme which allocated more than £81,500 in its first 18 months and supported 183 community projects,
Payments must be at least £100 and average payments at Forest Heath were £445.
St Edmundsbury’s cabinet is expected to rubber-stamp the move on Tuesday (March 25) and the pilot reviewed next year.
