The consultation on the proposed move to two tier education in Bury St Edmunds including the closure of middle schools has launched today.
Parents, pupils, school staff, governors and local communities have the chance to view the proposals and have their say between now and Friday December 13. Parents will receive a hard copy of the consultation proposal document directly from their schools and it is also available to view online.
As well as being able to take part in the consultation by filling out the questionnaire included in the consultation booklet, people are also invited to attend one of the open events being held throughout the consultation period at the affected schools.
Councillor Lisa Chambers, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for education, skills and young people, said: “It’s vital there is thorough consultation on the SOR process and that people feel they have all the information they need to be able to take part.
“This is a real opportunity for people to find out more about the proposals and how it will affect them, enabling them to put forward an informed opinion. I’d encourage anyone interested in the SOR process in the area to look over the consultation proposals and attend an upcoming event.”
