People drinking at the Swan in Coney Weston will have their pints pulled by a slightly different looking landlady after the Bank Holiday weekend.
Tomorrow, Melanie Purkiss will be losing her locks in a bid to raise money for charity Star Throwers, which cares for people affected by cancer.
Her inspiration for the event came from one of her locals who is currently dealing with cancer.
She said: “The Swan is a real community pub so I wanted to do something to show our support and this seemed like a great idea.
“Our locals have donated over £600 so far and there are sponsorship forms up in the bar so I’m hoping we can raise plenty more over the weekend.”
The event is part of a bumper weekend of activities planned at the Admiral Taverns-owned pub in Thetford Road, which will include an outside bar with local bands, raffles and a car boot sale on Sunday morning with all proceeds going to Star Throwers.
