Collision sparks power outage in Tuddenham

A car collided with a power pole yesterday morning, demolishing it and cutting power to 247 households.

Police were called to the single vehicle collision in Higham Road, Tuddenham, at 6.50am.

The fire service attended the collision as a precautionary measure because fallen power cables were sparking.

The collision cut the power to 247 households. UK Power Networks restored power to 233 by about 7.50am.

The remaining 14 customers, in the Coalpit Lane Area of Tuddenham, were reconnected by 1.30pm.

A police spokesperson said it is believed no injuries were sustained in the collision.
