Sunday’s community fun day on Moreton Hall, in Bury St Edmunds, has been dubbed the best one yet.
Families kick-started their summer holidays by enjoying attractions ranging from Zorb balls and inflatable gladiator jousting to a helter skelter ride and climbing wall.
A team from Bury’s Howard Estate won the day’s five-a-side football competition and officers from Suffolk Police let their hair down by allowing themselves to ‘get socked’ in exchange for charitable donations.
Meanwhile, there were trade stalls to browse and refreshments provided by the community centre in Symonds Road, which hosts the annual event.
“The weather was good, which helped,” said Nigel cross, chairman of the Moreton Hall Community Association and club.
He added: “It was a great day and we felt this year was probably the best we’ve done. It was fantastic – everybody took part.”
The money raised will go towards refurbishment of the centre, now 12 years old and in need of a number of repairs.
Mr Cross said he was happy to continue hosting the fun days as long as the community continued to enjoy it.
A date for next year’s has already been set – July 26.
“It’s nice to see the children come and enjoy themselves,” said Mr Cross.
