FORNHAM ST MARTIN: Cars by the Lake - Crowds at the Car Show

More than 5,300 people flocked to the fifth Classic and Sports Cars by the Lake at Fornham St Martin on Sunday.

Visitors soaked up a revival of the summer sunshine at the event at Hall Farm, which raised more than £30,000 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Organised by Andrew and Gina Long, of Hall Farm, along with the hospice’s voluntary special events committee, the event hosted 600 cars and motorcycles, ranging from Hudsons and pre-war Bugattis to the new Maclaren 650S.

As well as the cars there were trade stalls for visitors to peruse, a bar run by Bury-based brewery Greene King, and children’s entertainment including a visit from Peppa Pig, who arrived in a pink limo.

Event organiser Austin Cornish said: “It was a record day for us.

“We had some amazing cars there. The quality, not just the quantity of cars is improving. It is getting a good name in the world of car shows.

“It certainly does draw a really good quality of car, and all the enthusiasts who visit.”

Mrs Long said: “It was an incredible day raising huge funds for the hospice.

“Thank you to everyone who supported it and made it such a special day.”

The support of sponsors Greene and Greene Solicitors and other local businesses including Sheridans estate agents meant every penny raised went to the hospice.
