Businesses are being asked to take part in the fifth and final Towergate Accumulator Challenge to raise vital cash for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
The event launches next Thursday (June 26), when participating firms will be tasked with turning £50 into as much money as possible for the charity.
The teams - so far there are 40 - will compete over a three month period to see which can raise the most before a grand finale night in September.
As this is to be the last fund-raiser of its kind, the hospice is appealing for companies to help ensure the contest raises a bumper sum.
Paul Whittaker, of Towergate Insurance, which donates all the £50 notes to ensure the businesses can get off to a great start, said: “We are very proud of what the challenge has raised so far and look forward to a summer of activity, enjoyment and competition.”
The Accumulator Challenge has raised more than £150,000 for the hospice since launching in 2010.
Abby Mayes, hospice corporate fund-raiser, said this year’s starting line-up was ‘already looking strong’.
She added: “However, we always welcome more competitors – in fact the more the merrier. Businesses can do anything they like to raise funds for the Hospice. We don’t mind what money-making schemes they dream up, as long as they are legal.”
Previous fund-raising initiatives have included a petting zoo, rounders tournament, go-karting, Zumbathon, casino nights, an open gardens day and cake and book sales.
