Members of staff at a popular Bury St Edmunds spa and hotel have braved the cold for charity.

Clarice House’s head chef, health club manager, hotel supervisor, restaurant manager and beauty spa manager were among 13 staff to take part in the ice bucket challenge in the grounds of the Horringer Road facility this afternoon.

Membership adviser Julie Key, who helped organise the event, said she was feeling ‘trepidation and excitement’ before taking part.

“Julie’s been the one to drive this forward and we shan’t forget it,” said general manager George Allen, who was also persuaded to join in.

“They’re used to my wacky ideas so won’t hold it against me,” said Julie, adding that it had been more fun than she had expected and a good team building exercise for staff.

The challenge has already raised £250 for the MND Association, with 95 per cent of donations from members of Clarice House
