The 95 cyclists taking part in Bury Rugby Club’s Memorial Cycle Ride left for France this morning to start their 310 mile ride back to the clubhouse from Ermenonville.

The ride is to mark the 40th anniversary of the Ermenonville air disaster which killed 18 members and is set to raise at least £90,000 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Lizzie Cross, St Nicholas Care Corporate Fundraiser, said: “After months of preparation it was very moving to finally see the cyclists departs for their 310-mile challenge. Everyone at the Hospice wishes them well and looks forward to welcoming them back to Bury St Edmunds on Sunday.”

The cyclists are due to get back to the rugby club in Rougham Road en masse at about 4pm on Sunday May 11 at the club, when everyone is welcome to cheer them home.
