Smart new signs are springing up around Bury St Edmunds to offer visitors a fresh new gateway to the town.

Readers of the Bury Free Press were invited to submit their chosen tag for the welcome to Bury St Edmunds signs and a panel of judges selected the winning one.

Two readers selected the same tag A Jewel in the Crown of Suffolk. They were Angela and John Moore and Steven Moody who won vouchers for The Crown at Hartest.

Some £12,000 was provided to replace the existing signs thanks to funding from St Edmundsbury, Bury St Edmunds Town Council, OurBuryStEdmunds and Suffolk County Council.

Bury in Bloom, under the umbrella of the Bury Society, have had the signs made by Coastline Graphics on Moreton Hall and they have been installed around the town this week.
