West Suffolk Hospital staff will be presented with a prestigious Dr Foster Trust of the Year award on Thursday in recognition of the quality of care received by patients.
The hospital is Trust of the Year 2013 for the Midlands and East of England region in the annual Dr Foster Hospital Guide. West Suffolk was one of just four NHS trusts across the country to receive the title, which was based on performance against mortality data.
West Suffolk received the award after recording lower than expected death rates and in recognition of its performance for weekend working.
Stephen Graves, trust chief executive, pictured, said: “The award shows our patients are receiving safe, high quality care both at weekends and during the week.
“The accolade is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of our staff, who strive to provide the best possible services for our patients.“
Roger Taylor, director of strategy and public affairs with Dr Foster, said: “The award highlights the great care given at the trust and our congratulations go to all the staff, clinical and non-clinical, for their dedication and outstanding efforts in making West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust a great place for patients to receive treatment.”
The Dr Foster Hospital Guide is an independent assessment which benchmarks the performance of every NHS hospital in England.
