Broadcaster Penny Smith is to host the Bury Free Press Business Awards - and it is now time to nominate an outstanding employee who deserves recognition.

The TV and radio presenter, newsreader and journalist will present the awards evening at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, on Friday, October 10.

Nominations are coming in for the accolades and it’s your chance to put forward who you think should be named Employee of the Year.

Sponsored by West Suffolk College, the award is for those who are productive, exhibit commitment in carrying out job responsibilities and are an asset to the staff of their department.

It employs more than 400 staff.

A spokesman said: “We see ourselves as the engine of East Anglia and behind that engine is our dedicated workforce who is committed to offering our customers, (our students) the best possible learning experience.

“Putting our learners and their success at the heart of all we do.”

On requirements for the award, the spokesman added: “We want to hear of exceptional professionalism, passion, enthusiasm and an outstanding commitment to serve and deliver to customers.

“We want to be impressed with examples of productivity, dependability, punctuality and above all positivity by nominees in the workplace.

“We are looking for individual examples of employees going above and beyond, and who demonstrate a genuine love and dedication to their job, employer and customers.

“We are by proud to be supporting this award category and we look forward to recognising exceptional local employees.”
