After excelling in a national computer programming competition students from St Christopher’s CEVC Primary School, Red Lodge, have been invited to compete against the best in the world, in Brazil.

The year-six pupils have been invited to the Robo Cup, and are seeking sponsorship to travel to Joao Pessoa this July.

In March eight girls made up three teams who came second, third and fourth in the UK National CoSpace Championship, in which they programmed robots.

ICT coordinator at the school, Andrew Severy, said: “It started in October as a taster session to go from there to competing in an international competition is quite a journey. I’m extremely pleased and very proud of the girls.”
