A boy was arrested yesterday following a bogus police officer scam in Brandon.

Yesterday morning an 84-year-old Brandon woman was contacted by a man purporting to be a police officer from London.

He stated that she was a victim of fraud and needed to withdraw money from her bank account. She was told a taxi would collect the money and take it to London.

The matter was reported to police and a 17-year-old boy from London was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

The teenager is currently being held in custody for questioning at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
