Green initiatives and individuals who go the extra mile will be among those recognised in the Bury Free Press Business Awards.
Nominations are coming in for the accolades and it’s your chance to put forward those leading lights in the Green/Environmental and Unsung Hero categories.
The Green/Environmental Award, sponsored by Easton and Otley College, will be presented to the business/organisation which has demonstrated the greatest commitment to improving its carbon footprint.
Projects need to demonstrate a positive contribution to the environment through, for example, caring for the natural environment, improving use of resources, reducing pollution or increasing environmental understanding.
As part of their commitment to landbased education, bosses at Easton and Otley College say they feel a responsibility towards the environment.
The college is committed to supporting local businesses – with a particular emphasis on the landbased sector - including agriculture, equine, horticulture and associated industries.
Sustainability is also a key part of the college’s agenda and that is the reasoning behind the support of this category.
Spokesman John Nice said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this award for the second year running.
“They (the awards) are a great showcase for talented individuals and companies - of all sizes -in this part of the county.
“As a college, we are delighted to be associated with this occasion that champions the very best of business in Bury and beyond.”
The Unsung Hero Award, sponsored by Hastings Direct, will be presented to the person who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, goes the extra mile every day but never asks for any recognition or reward.
A Hastings Direct spokesman said: “With over 1,800 staff between our Newmarket and Bexhill offices, our local community is really importance to us – for many of us – it is home.
“We are a multi-award winning company which has built our business by championing the consumer and helping to hold down the cost of car, van and home insurance. We are very proud to have been voted as Car Insurance Provider of the Year by the general public again this year and of having won a local Own Grown award recognising all our community work.
“We are proud to honour the work of our community unsung heroes and are pleased to be able to recognise their work through our association with the Bury Free Press Awards.”
