A woman has avoided jail after falsely claiming more than £30,000 in benefits.

A woman has avoided jail after falsely claiming more than £30,000 in benefits.

Instead Tessa Jones, of Lamble Close, Beck Row, has been ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid community work.

Jones, 28, pleaded guilty to two offences of failing to notify a change in her circumstances when, while she was receiving benefit payments, her boyfriend moved into her house.

Magistrates were told that the total benefit incorrectly claimed by Jones was £30,112.

South East Suffolk magistrates court heard that £100 prosecution costs which Jones was told she must pay will be recouped through deductions from future benefit payments.
