Waitrose customers voted to give our Beat It appeal, to buy a prostate probe for West Suffolk Hospital, almost half of a £1,000 pot the store split between three local charities as part of its Community Matters scheme in Bury St Edmunds.

Customers ‘vote’ which charity they want to benefit each month by putting green tokens in a box and the store today gave us a cheque for £485.

Beat It co-ordinator John Henderson said:”It’s wonderful that 48 per cent chose Beat It. It shows how the community took the appeal to its heart.”

If you have raised money for Beat It, please get it to us by the end of the month.
