A Barton Mills pensioner faces trial over alleged sex offences, including rape, on a young girl 35 years ago.

Reginald Pike, 73, of Wiggin Close, Barton Mills appeared in the dock at Chelmsford Magistrates Court) and was remanded on bail to appear at the city’s Crown Court on November 10 for trial.

He is charged with gross indecency with a girl under the age of 12 between December 5,1973 and December 4, 1974 in Harlow, Essex.

Pike is said to have committed an act of gross indecency with the same girl when she was under the age of 13 between December 5, 1974 and December 4,1975.

He is also charged with indecently assaulting and raping her when she was over 16 in April 1979.
