Student Ashley Hall took his first steps into the world of journalism this week - when he took over as Bury Free Press editor for a day.
Ashley, 17, who is studying for his A-levels at the town’s County Upper School, was treated to the day as a Christmas present from his parents through a bid in the West Suffolk Hospital Christmas auction.
During his day at the helm of the newspaper, Ashley met ‘deposed’ editor Barry Peters, accompanied photographer Roger Arbon on a couple of assignments and kept a close eye on the sports department – an area he is considering as a possible career.
Ashley said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my experience working for the Bury Free Press. Everyone has been so kind and they have made me feel very welcome.“
