Arsonists have attacked a business owned by the brother of Steve Wright on the same night a documentary of his crimes was screened.
Steve Wright was convicted in 2008 of the murder of five Ipswich prostitutes.
His brother, David Wright, discovered a cabin at his business, 1st Choice Cabin Services, had been set alight, yesterday morning.
David said the fire could be related to a documentary screened on Channel Five on Wednesday evening.
He said: “Some people can not look past that we did not commit the crime. He’s my brother, I’m an easy target they get at me to get at Steve.”
Police have said the fire is being treated as arson and investigations are ongoing.
David was called to the business in Stanningfield by a member of staff who spotted the damage.
He said: “I came in and the first thing I could smell was petrol because the whole place is covered in petrol.”
David, who is currently pursuing a retrial on his brother’s behalf, said the documentary screened on Wednesday had the potential to stir up emotion.
The fire has caused damage to a cabin worth £3,000.
David said: “We were extremely lucky, if that would have gone all the rest would have gone. We would have been talking in excess of £100,000.”
