April showers failed to come our way with rainfall for the month 70 per cent below average.
Only 14mm was logged by Bury St Edmunds weather recorder Alan Messem, with no significant rain in the first six days and less than 1mm in the last five.
Blustery showers on the 7th brought 6.3mm but settled weather returned and the total for the last three weeks was only 5.7mm.
But Alan said: “Despite March and April rainfall being below average, the four-month total so far for 2014 is 211mm — still 31mm above the regional Average and the 12-month total now stands at 644m — 43mm above average.”
Bury’s driest March and April was 2011 with 12.2mm.
