Bury St Edmunds Town Council is to freeze its share of council tax for the next financial year.
Last night, the council set its precept for the 2014/15 financial year at £13.50 per Band D equivalent property.
It will receive a compensatory grant from Government of £14,492 to ‘top up’ the actual precept of £170,744.
The Government has reduced that grant by 25 per cent, around £5,000, on the previous year and is expected to continue reducing it by 25 per cent year on year.
The Town Council also adopted its 2014/15 budget at last night’s meeting. At £190,536, the new budget will see a £9,604 reduction on the current financial year.
