Lippy message as nightimte safety bus rolls into Bury St Edmunds

YOUNG people will be getting the safety message loud and clear tomorrow night as the SOS bus will be in Bury St Edmunds.

The Stay Safe campaign aims to keep festive revellers safe about town and the special bus will be parked behind Icelanbd in St Andrew’s Street South from 7.30pm onwards.

Police, town pastors and the Kiss FM Street Team will be handing out information around the town and as well as its high visibility teams the project will also be handing out small lip balms showing key safety messages.

Pub staff will be wearing ‘NO means NO’ and ‘Drink Responsibly’ badges in support of the campaign, which is funded by the Western Community Safety Partnership.

Cllr Robert Everitt, St Edmundsbury cabinet member, said: “Bury has a thriving night time economy largely because people feel safe in the town. Stay Safe is an important reminder that although the festive spirit may be flowing freely, common sense is still needed”

The Bury St Edmunds Safer Neighbourhood Team and special constables will also be at the SOS bus.
