LIFELONG friends Carly Webber and Karen Holmes have gone into business together after they were both off work on maternity leave.

Despite Carly moving to Australia for six months and Swindon for two years, the duo, who were born two weeks apart and who grew up together in Great Whelnetham have remained best of friends and are God parents to each other’s children.

Now they have become birth educators with Lazy Daisy Birthing.

“We were both pregnant at the same time when we decided we wanted to have our own business,” said Carly, 31, who is now living back in Great Whelnetham. “We both have our own areas that we will be covering but we will be working together as a team and encouraging each other. It is quite exciting.”

The women are offering pregnant women a six-week course of two hours classes providing a mix of education, self hypnosis, yoga, breathing, and labour techniques. The course is approved by the Federation of Antenatal Educators.

Classes start next month in Bury and Stowmarket – for further details contact Carly on 07554 395289 or email

Next month will also see the launch of classes in Mildenhall, Newmarket and Ely – contact Karen on 07759 685247 or email
