A COUPLE who ‘do everything together’ are celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary today in Bury St Edmunds.
Jean and Richard Lockwood, of Albernmarle Road, Bury, met when they were 12 and 13-years-old respectively.
Richard was one of 11 children and Jean was school friends with one of his sisters.
They went to the former Jubilee School, enjoyed roller skating in the Corn Exchange and hung out at The Sunshine Band, a meeting place in St John’s Street.
It was for Jean’s eighteenth birthday that her ‘very kind and very thoughtful’ husband bought her an engagement ring.
Richard, who worked as a painter and decorator for Fenner Builders for 52 years, said that he had never known his wife to get angry.
They have one daughter and two grandchildren, who will be celebrating with them at the Linden Tree.
