A licensing application to turn the long empty Officers Club in The Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds into a bar has been granted.

Daniel Bird, owner of Club Brazilia, has been granted a licence to open The Players Lounge Bar and Grill.

Planning permission for the change of use from retail has already been granted as a result of a planning inspector’s decision on another application in April.

But Mr Bird will still need to apply for detailed planning permission for the Grade II listed building.
