We’ve lost influence
YOUR brief article (Bury Free Press, January 20) regarding my former membership of the National Association of Local Councils, including two major committee memberships, omitted a most important point.
Under current national rules, my replacement will not be able to be a member of those two committees. This is unfortunate, particularly since the Suffolk association has two proposals on the NALC policy committee’s agenda to which, as that body’s vice-chairman, I would probably have had some considerable input, in supporting all Suffolk’s councils.
Also, I wish to express my warm thanks to the councils who have once again given me privilege of being a member, in what is likely to be my final year on the new Suffolk board, to represent them for the next few months, which I shall do as well as I can.
John Barker,
Mildenhall.
