We’re happy to accept donations of unwanted items

How wonderful it was to read Karen Cannard’s column (Bury Free Press, January 18) about reusing and recycling unwanted items.

Here at St Nicholas Hospice Care we are always delighted to receive unwanted clothes, textiles, books, dvds, toys, bric a brac and furniture. The overwhelming majority of items donated to us are sold through our eight shops across West Suffolk and Thetford. However, as your columnist pointed out, we are also keen to accept bras, clothes and textiles which are not of good enough quality to be sold in our shops. We can still raise funds through recycling these items, so please do not simply throw them in the bin! Every year, donations of clothing and textiles from members of the public raise almost £500,000 for the Hospice. This source of income is vital to enable the Hospice to continue supporting patients and their families. So please, when you are next having a clear-out, think of St Nicholas Hospice Care. Donations of unwanted items can be made at any of our shops during opening hours. Clothing and textiles can be dropped off 24 hours a day at our Retail Centre, in Boldero Road, Bury. We also sell pre-loved second-hand furniture and household items. For more information and opening hours, please see our website – www.stnicholashospicecare.org.uk
